1949年建国前夕，当得知刚刚起义的原国民党高级将领宝钺有意前往策反驻扎绥远的十万大军这一惊人情报时，国民党高层异常震怒，保密局局长毛人凤亲自出面请原本退出江湖的王牌特工唐栋重新出山，率领暗杀小组前往绥远执行暗杀任务。中共方面也派出了以李赫男为首的贴身护卫小组与绥远军方面协同保护宝钺的人生安全。唐栋与李赫男一年前曾有过交手，此时的对阵更是为了了结两人心中的一段恩怨情仇。唐栋利用我方内部所存在的一系列弱点，接连使出四张王牌，企图竭力破坏李赫男小组的保卫工作。期间曾有数次差点得手的机会，但都被以李赫男、尹良为核心的保卫小组一一化解，二人更在老牌保卫专家周旭山的鼎力支持下挖出了潜伏在我方队伍里的叛徒
