1950，新中国成立伊始，百废待兴，群众建设热情高涨，广播里正宣传户口制度，突然“哐当”一声，沈寒秋紧张得白色的吊带裙一肩滑落了，阳光照在她满是青紫伤痕的胳膊：对面河边的青年苏明涛高唱着《喀秋莎》，骑着自行车在河岸边，沈寒秋叹息了一声，桌上有两张神秘字条，一张写着“T55”，另一张却写着“自首书”。两人在桥上意外邂逅了。失魂落魄的苏明涛追着沈寒秋来到区政府，却因为政府正给一群妓女们登记而大闹了区政府。
一个杀人狂商店的店员发现了她自己家族的黑暗历史，当她被要求出售尚未破案的纪念品时。
秦基周饰演李泰梨一角，受妈妈的影响，梦想着成为演员，虽然遇到了残酷的事件，但最终成功成为演员。

在东京浅草的隅田川河畔，古旧的楼群中栖息着毫不起眼的大川端侦探社。侦探社由三人组成，只知道做模型、脾气敦厚的所长大川端一平（石桥莲司 饰）、胸大无脑的接待员小惠（小泉麻耶 饰）以及没有委托时便蜷在沙发里睡大觉的调查员村木（小田切让 饰）。村木经常会做一些带有预知色彩的噩梦，而随之登门的客户或多或少都与他的梦境有关。经济不景气的当下，大川端侦探社的业务涉及面甚广，甚至有些时候扮演着类似便利屋的角色。他们的客户来自各行各业，黑帮头目、搞笑演员、面包店大叔、宅男等等，所要寻找的从战后的美味馄饨面到二十年前的神秘雪女，足够让人挠破头皮，而村木他们也在这一过程中了解到他者令人或感动或唏嘘的一面……
